The Barcelona Vermouth Aperitif Experience Hamper

£75.00

On a warm evening in Barcelona, the local bars are full of people winding down after a hot Spanish day, and many will be enjoying a vermouth. It's a popular drink in Spain, especially in Barcelona, and is usually served straight with a citrus slice or an olive, perhaps with a dash of 'sifon' or soda to open up its aromatic flavours. Why not send your someone special a gift that will transport them to sunny Spain to drink like the locals do! This hamper provides the full vermouth aperitif experience, with a colourful bottle of red vermouth and a selection of delicious traditional Catalonian snacks.

Contents:

El Bandarra Vermut Rojo (Red Vermouth) - El Bandarra's red vermouth is made by sixth-generation producers, the Virgili brothers, in Barcelona. For Alex Virgili, 'vermouth is an attitude. Chilling out an a terrace and enjoying the good times'. Their craft vermouth is a blend of Xarel-lo and Macabeo, macerated with 50 herb extracts such as clove, cinnamon and bitter orange. The wine is then fortified, caramel is added, and then it is matured in used oak barrels for two months. El Bandarra rojo is a smooth, appetizing aperitif with a perfect bitter-sweet balance. The colourful, re-usable bottle is inspired by the old Spanish tradition of hand-painting the names of the tapas on the windows of the bars.

'Pimiento Cherry Relleno de Queso' (cherry peppers stuffed with cheese) - These delicious little snacks are popular nibbles in Spain, where peppers thrive in the year round sunshine of its southern regions.

Crema de Pimiento del Piquillo (piquillo pepper cream) - Create a delicious appetiser by spreading this delicious soft piquillo pepper cream on toast or crackers, use as a dip with breadsticks or fresh vegetable crudités, or as a topping for canapés. Equally it makes a great pasta sauce, oran accompaniment to meat or fish. Perhaps even a sandwich filling! Made from the best piquillo peppers, artisan production methods ensure that all the flavour of the peppers is perfectly preserved, which gives it a lively, peppery character.

Crema de Alcachofa (artichoke cream) - In Spain the artichoke is prized for both its taste and its health benefits. The heart of artichoke has a fragrant, sweet taste, which you can enjoy in this delicious creamy sauce without all the hassle of preparing this stikingly beautiful, yet intimidating, armoured vegetable.

Olives stuffed with anchovies - These Spanish green olives are a saltier variety, stuffed with anchovies. The perfect accompaniment to a glass of vermouth!

Pistachios These nuts are a popular Spanish snack. Pistachio trees thrive in the drylands of Spain, and in recent years pistachio tree planting has expanded in Spain by as much as 30%. Nibble on these delicious nuts alongside a glass of vermouth, and imagine yourself basking in the sun outside a Spanish bar...fabuloso!
