Zio Pasquale's taralli are the best version of this traditional Puglian snack that we have tasted. This version features delicious Modica chocolate from Sicily, which originates from an ancient Aztec recipe. Don't expect a very sweet biscuit, but the dark chocolate gives the taralli a cookie-like flavour. Very more-ish!
These crispy mini bagels are a great appetiser or snack, great for sharing with friends and perfect to pop in a picnic basket. We recommend nibbling alongside something cold and fizzy!
Zio Pasquale produce their high quality taralli using artisanal production processes and high quality ingredients, combined with a deep love for their work, which they describe as a 'wonderful project'. In 2006 Zio (or Uncle) Pasquale from the Santoro family in Ceglie Messapica, decided to start a bakery business using ancient recipes that had been handed down the family generations as scrupulously guarded secrets. His mission was to bring the authentic taste of traditionally made taralli using local ingredients (wheat, semolina, white wine, extra virgin olive oil, salt and fresh yeast) to modern tables.
